Mornington Peninsula Winery Walk
05 May 2018 - 05 May 2018
Walk from Red Hill to Merricks with local vignerons and friends to celebrate the end of harvest and experience current vintage wines. Taste a variety of wines along the way complemented by a fine selection of food. A beautiful meandering historical rail track provides the perfect way.
The 2018 Winery Walk is now finalised and we invite you to walk in a small group of 50. We like to keep groups small and make sure all walkers have ample opportunity to taste wines and hear our fantastic Mornington Peninsula wine stories. Plus there is less chance we will lose one or two walkers along the way (not that we have yet!)
Once again in 2018 each ticket sold will help to contribute to the current MPVA fundraising cause - the remarkable Fred Hollows Foundation - helping end unecessary blindness for someone in the world!
This year we have a few changes: We are very pleased to announce the region's latest Cellar Door is joining the intinerary (because they are a great new start and end to the walk, and Lindenderry is tied up with a wedding this year).
Meet us at Pt Leo Estate - we will have a bus waiting to take you to the Red Hill Epicurean for a taste of Foxey's Sparkling non vintage Wine and salumi and croissant food fare. Then we will walk along the beautiful historic rail trail to a private vineyard to meet Lindsay McCall, owner/winemaker of Paringa Estate, showcasing a Chardonnay & Pinot Noir matched to canapes created by Chef Adam Beckett (from Paringa Estate). Then down to Paradigm Hill to meet George and Ruth Mihaly with family and friends. Finally down to Stonier (with Willow Creek Vineyard in attendance) and Merricks General Wine Store in Merricks - for more wines and food, and the opportunty to buy wine. Then we will bus you back to Pt Leo Estate for a final taste of wines and a simple BBQ outside overlooking the beauitful sculpture park and Western Port Bay.
Join local vignerons to celebrate the end of the 2018 harvest from Red Hill to Merricks...around 7 kilometres.
Buses will be available to return walkers to Pt Leo Estate from Merricks from 1pm.
*Please note, the walking track from Red Hill to Merricks is quite well maintained but good walking shoes are recommended. Other than the odd muddy patch in wet seasons, the track provides for an easy walk which is all on a level or slightly down hill terrain. There is one steep but very short up hill section mid way. Please note this is an all weather event.
When booking a ticket you will have the option of 5 start times - from Pt Leo Estate dedicated Car Park at 8am, 8.45am, 9.30am, 10.15am & 11am. Details will be advised when booking. For those who start during the first 3 sessions you will have an opportunity to walk with our winemakers, who are always happy to talk about their wine! The first 3 groups will be in with a chance to wine some wine on the day also - just a little something extra to help start the day early, although the early walks are at a very magical time of the day. (Plus car pool if possible and bring your water bottle to fill along the way)
